WCAG audit
WCAG audit for websites
An independent review of your website's accessibility, with concrete findings your team or ours can act on.
What is a WCAG audit?
A WCAG audit examines how well your website meets the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), the international standard for digital accessibility. We test against WCAG 2.2 at level AA, the baseline expected across most of Europe.
An audit does not produce a checkmark or a certificate. It produces a concrete list of findings: what doesn't work, for whom, how serious it is, and what it takes to fix it.
What automated tools can and cannot find
Automated tools are fast and useful, but they only catch part of what people using assistive technology actually run into — an illogical keyboard focus order, a form with technically-correct labels that a screen reader still announces confusingly, or contrast that passes a numeric threshold but is still hard to read in context.
Our free accessibility check is a solid first step and catches common technical issues automatically. A WCAG audit goes further: we test with a keyboard by hand, review page structure and semantics, check forms and interactive components, and run targeted screen-reader tests where it matters.
In NorthPeak's European Accessibility Benchmark 2026, 134 of 135 successfully scanned pages contained at least one automatically detectable accessibility issue. See the full benchmark
What we test
- Keyboard operability and focus order
- Semantic structure and headings (HTML, ARIA where needed)
- Forms, error messages and interactive components
- Colour contrast and readability in context
- Images, alt text and media
- Targeted screen-reader testing on critical flows
How the audit process works
Scoping
We agree together which pages and flows are representative of your site — not every page needs its own separate test.
Testing
Automated checks first, followed by manual keyboard, structural and, where relevant, screen-reader testing.
Reporting
Every finding is prioritised by real-world impact, with a plain explanation rather than just a rule number.
Walkthrough
We go through the findings with you and discuss the practical first steps.
What you receive
- A prioritised list of findings, by page or component
- A concrete explanation for each finding: what, for whom, and why it matters
- Practical recommendations for design and code
- A call to walk through the results and next steps
Who this is for
- Organisations who want to know where their site actually falls short, beyond an automated score
- Businesses facing procurement requirements or customers who expect accessibility
- Sites that already ran an automated scan and want the next step
- Teams who need concrete, actionable findings — not a thick report with no follow-through
Cost and scope
Pricing depends on the size of your site and how many representative pages and flows we test. A quick scan as a first step starts from €149; a full manual audit is scoped to your situation.

What happens after the audit?
The audit itself doesn't fix anything — it gives you a concrete, prioritised list to work from. From there, your team can take it on, or we can handle the remediation in design and code.
For sites that keep evolving, we recommend periodic re-checks: new content and features can introduce new barriers.
